NEWS:
ALHAMBRA 2007 BFLA celebrated 26 years in business on 1 January 2007. People We welcome Katie Duff who has returned to BFLA as senior landscape architect after some years at Basingstoke & Deane Borough Council, and Annie Martin who has joined as assistant landscape architect.
New commissions reflecting the variety of experience within the practice include major housing projects in Bath, Bucks, Surrey, Sussex and London, a new school in Greenwich, Thames side improvements at Teddington for the Thames Landscape Strategy and the Environment Agency, car parking improvement at Box Hill for the National Trust, a large industrial development in Cheshire and a new nursing home in Essex. We have also returned to Middle East work after several years’ absence to work on a new school in Qatar.
Completions Our environmental improvement project for St Peter’s Estate in Bethnal Green is nearing completion. The main aims of this project were to increase security and reduce anti-social behaviour and noise disturbance. Work included entrance gates & enclosures, a multi-purpose games area, a playground, lighting, paving, furniture and planting. The client is the London Borough of Tower Hamlets and the main contractor Meeres Ltd. BUGA 2005 Keeping up with new developments in landscape design is important to BFLA. So, at the end of September 2005, the practice visited the Bundesgartenschau in Munich, a showcase of high quality, contemporary European design.
