NEWS:

BFLA celebrated 29 years in business on 1 January 2010.

New commissions reflecting the variety of experience within the practice include a major new development in Birmingham city centre; work for the National Trust at Ightham Mote in Kent including lake restoration and improvements to visitor facilities; an oil and gas musum in Kuwait; an Arts and Crafts garden restoration in Hampstead; a landscape and visual impact assessment for a power station and various housing and industrial developments throughout the country.

Completions

The main part of our visitor improvement project at Polesden Lacey for the National Trust is now complete. The new car park is open and the old car park restored to its original 1920s use as an orchard.
A new visitor courtyard has been created which will shortly link through to a rebuilt restaurant, shop and ticket office in the newly refurbished stable block.
The Discovery School in Greenwhich reached practical completion in early September in time for the new beginning of term on the eighth.

PARIS 2008
This year's study visit was to Paris, in June, where we looked at most of the large modern parks including La Villette, Bercy and Citroën as well as innovative projects such as the vertical garden on the wall of the Musée du Quai Branly, the gardens at the Cartier Foundation and the vast Jardin Atlantique on the roof of the Gare Montparnasse. As usual good food and wine helped to balance the more serious business of CPD.

ALHAMBRA 2007
At the end of May 2007 the practice made a study visit to Granada and the Alhambra.   The serious work of studying this important historical landscape was balanced by good food and wine - and being able to sit outside until after midnight.

BUGA 2005

Keeping up with new developments in landscape design is important to BFLA. So, at the end of September 2005, the practice visited the Bundesgartenschau in Munich, a showcase of high quality, contemporary European design.

VACANCIES:

We are looking for a senior landscape architect for maternity cover from the end of April for approximately 3 months.

BFLA is an equal opportunities employer.
